

Therese Marie Collins Doyle, 75, passed away on November 15, 2025 in Athens, Georgia after an extended illness. Born into a large Irish Catholic family on January 18, 1950, in Chicago, Terry was the daughter of the late Mary Jane and Robert Collins.
Terry moved to Athens from California in 1974 with her husband Charles, a newly appointed UGA professor, and toddler son Clement. During the ensuing decades, Terry was an active parent in the public schools of Athens as well as a vigorous participant in Athenian civic and cultural affairs. She was a member at The Catholic Center at UGA for over 50 years, where she sang in the choir and served on the funeral guild and as a eucharistic minister. Terry was known for her warm, welcoming spirit and her outgoing nature. She was a devoted wife, doting mother and grandmother, and loyal friend to many.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles Doyle, son Clement Doyle (Mary Margaret), grandsons Clay Doyle and Hines Doyle, siblings Mary Kay Wallblom (Charlie), Peggy O’Brien (Mike), Patty Tyrrell (Len, dec.), Edward Collins (Kathy), Tom Collins, Cynthia Collins, Colleen McShane (Emmet), Robert Collins (Briggie), Bridget Erfort (Dave), Timothy Collins, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Stephen Collins (Shelly), Anthony Collins, and Patrick Collins.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at The Catholic Center at the University of Georgia, with a reception to follow.
