Jim retired in 2018 from Lummus Corporation as Chief Operating Officer (COO) after 45 years of dedicated service to the same company. Jim began his career in the drafting department and worked his way to the top.
Jim’s main hobbies were golfing, hunting, boating and feeding his grandchildren all the forbidden snacks, much to chagrin of his 2 daughters!
Jim was excellent at whatever he did, as a man of all trades, from mechanical to electrical and woodworking. He built a lot of furniture, and every family member has a piece of furniture built by his hands. He probably had one of every type of tool a man could want!
Jim demanded respect with his intelligence and firm manner but he was incredibly proud of his family and a great mentor to many in his professional life. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor to know him, love him and be loved by him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Charlotte Anne (Workman) Valitzski of Hull, Georgia; his daughter, Kimberly Ann (Valitzski) Houser of Hot Springs, North Carolina; his daughter, Sharon Ann (Valitzski) Swagger of Hull, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Gretchen Alice Houser of Hot Springs, North Carolina, Hudson Thomas Houser of Hot Springs, North Carolina, Luke Aiden Holbrooks of Hull, Georgia, and Piper Marilyn Swagger of Hull, Georgia.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edwin Valitzski, and his mother, Ruth Eva (Walther) Valitzski. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his three brothers.
A private family service will be held.
