Dr. Gibson was my doctor (as well as my husband Don’s) for many years. We began seeing him at his Winterville office and then on Prince Avenue. He is the one who discovered Don’s heart condition and referred him to a cardiologist. I always enjoyed talking to him about life in general. We talked many times about his service in Vietnam. Visiting with him was like wrapping yourself in a warm fuzzy blanket! I hesitate to relate this particular visit with him, but this is such a memorable visit, I’m going to do it. Several years ago, Dr. Gibson performed a colonoscopy on me at his Prince Avenue office. After the procedure, he walked Don and me down those back stairs of the office building. Because of the effects of the procedure, the patient is apt to “pass gas” and that’s exactly what I did....big time! Dr. Gibson had is arm through mine and we descended those stairs putt-putting all the way! I was positively MORTIFIED. It took a long time to get over that. Thank God for Dr. Gibson.

Dr. Gibson was my doctor for many years. As a little girl, I remember thinking he was so funny and no matter how sick I was, he could always make me smile. He was also a phenomenal doctor for many of my family members.
Dr. Gibson was a medical leader and respected member in several communities in and around the Athens area.
May God give you peace and comfort as only He can.

Dr. Gibson was a wonderful doctor and he helped me change my life for the betterment of me and my family. He helped me believe in myself again and never judged me for my past. The last visit I had with him was in early March and after the “appointment” part was over I sat in his recliner and we talked and laughed about anything and everything, you know life and kids and stuff like that. I never thought that day would be the last time I would see him, but I’m very thankful for the extra time we had just chatting that day. My prayers and thoughts are with his family during this hard time, and I truly thank God for him and his care and his take on life. He was such a funny man, and we were always smiling or laughing after every visit. I already miss you, and thank you for seeing the real person behind the smile. You will forever be missed

With my husband, Pat, being retired from the military, and I myself a nurse, Dr. Gibson was the perfect doctor for our family when we returned to Oglethorpe County 20 years ago. His down to earth approach to healthcare kept my family on the right track. Now that excellent care continues with his son, Jim. There is going to be a void now each time as we go to the office and do not see his smiling face.
May God‘s peace and strength give the family comfort during this time.
