Survivors include his wife, Mary Cowart of Hull; children: Heather Marquez (Mario) of Gilbert, Ariz., Mahaley Cowart of South Carolina and Carrie Johnson of Athens; two grandchildren: Jack Marquez and Abigail Johnson.
In addition to his parents: Tom C. Cowart and Alma Doris Brooks Cowart, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Cowart.
Rev. Cowart was the founder of Family Worship Center in Winterville, Ga. after receiving his seminary degree from RMAI Bible College in Broken Arrow, Okla. in 1985.
The church’s vision was to be a House of Prayer, Healing and Deliverance. There are outnumbered souls that have claimed and shared this vision.
In 1990, Rev. Derrick Jackson joined the ministry and served as Associate Pastor, and in the last few years, served as co-pastor along with Pastor Cowart. Pastor Derrick Jackson also received his seminary degree from RMAI Bible College.
In Pastor Cowart’s earlier years, he was owner of two (2) night clubs in Athens. He was Partner with C & O vending company where they supplied and serviced game machines for businesses in Athens, Gainesville and the Atlanta areas.
The fun things he enjoyed in life was playing music, singing, driving corvettes, traveling, eating banana pudding and taking an afternoon nap.
He was always proud to tell you about their two grandchildren: Jack and Abigail whom he loved beyond measure.
Pastor Cowart was always ready to share his testimony as how he gave his heart to Christ during a men’s Christian retreat in Daytona, FL. His “FAITH” in Christ never wavered. The Biblical scripture he stood on was Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
He and Mary stood firmly on God’s word.
