

Torrence, lovingly known as "Man" by family growing up, was born in Jacksonville, Florida April 10, 1961 to the late Albert A. Pinkney and late Sandra Y. Coston. Torrence's early years were shaped by his devoted grandparents the late M.C. and Reda Mae Coston and paternal grandma the late Ophelia Johnson. Torrence was educated in Jacksonville, Florida where he attended Robert E. Lee Sr. High School. From there he enlisted in the United States Army where he met his wife Shirley Stafford-Pinkney in Ansbach, Germany in 1981. Through their 39-year union, they had four beautiful children, Michael (Emily), DaMeikus, Markida and Trajan.
Torrence known as “T” to his friends, loved to travel with his wife and family, with his most recent travel being to Belize and Hawaii. He shared a love of Disney with his wife and children. He was passionate about sports, loved watching his boys play ball and followed his home team the Georgia Bulldogs. His “Man Cave” was covered with Georgia Dawgs memorabilia. The beach was his happy place, just listening to the ocean waves.
Torrence never met a stranger. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his nine grandchildren who he often made nick names for. Mariah(RiRi),Jayden(J-man), Damari (Bucket head),Ethan(Big E),Londyn(Baby girl), Dalilah(Breezy),Dashlynn(Dash),Dakota(KoKo bean)and Dayton(DayDay). Papa dedicated his life to help raise Damari and always put all the grandchildren's needs before his own. In addition to his wife and children,
Torrence leaves behind a loving sister Rhonda (Kenneth), an Aunt he cherished Florence M. Patterson, and a host of cousins, nephews, half siblings and nieces. He is preceded in death by his sister Angela Coston-Pinkney.
