Tracy L. Harmon

Tracy L. Harmon, 69, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. Born June 28, 1956, she was a native of Norfolk, Virginia, and grew up in New Jersey, the daughter of the late James J. Helth Sr. and Faye Sorrow Helth. She was a longtime resident of Watkinsville and most recently lived in Statham.

Tracy built a dedicated career in the advertising industry, working in advertising and production for the Athens Banner-Herald, serving as an advertising representative for The Oconee Enterprise, and most recently as Executive Assistant to the Publisher of Oconee Neighbors magazine. In every role, she brought steady professionalism and a genuine, people-centered approach that made others feel seen and valued.

A huge fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and a lover of animals, all kinds of music—especially the joy of seeing bands play live—Tracy embraced life with energy and conviction. She loved the beach and big cities, and she found satisfaction in simple, everyday rhythms like yard work. Her compassion was practical and constant: she checked on people, visited her customers, sent cards, and offered encouragement freely. She was known for a fierce presence, tempered by a sweetness and a sassy charm that made her unforgettable. Truly, she never met a stranger.

Above all, Tracy was a devoted wife to John and a devoted mother to Alexa, anchoring her family with steadfast love.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John Frank Harmon III of Statham; her daughter, Alexa Faye Harmon and her fiancé' Derrick Wickersham of Decatur; and her brother, James Joseph Helth Jr. and his wife, Dina Hayes Helth of Carlton.

Visitation will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway, Athens, on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel.
