Vernon Nathan “Bud” Brown passed away on July 5, 2026. He was born in LaGrange, Georgia on September 19, 1937. “Bud,” as he was known by, attended Bass High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He worked for Southern Mills, National Biscuit Company, Colonial Foods and retired from Sears.
Vernon was preceded in death by his mother, Florence McKeehen Brown; father, Oliver Austin Brown; his son, Charles Alan “Chuck” Brown; his sisters, Loletta Grant and Vivian Morgan; brothers, Michael Brown and Billy Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frankie Mae Brown; son, Tim Brown (Tammy); daughter-in-law, Lisa Brown; grandchildren, Carey Hornsby (Ben), Lindsey Caruthers (Ryan) and Chase Brown (Chasley); great-grandchildren, Ruby Hornsby, Sam Hornsby, Ann Evans Brown, Kate Brown and Brooks Caruthers and many nieces and nephews.
Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved working with his sons’ youth athletic programs, and he was heavily involved with the Roswell Youth Football Association. He was a deacon at Kilough Baptist Church in Dawsonville for several years. He was also a Free Mason and belonged to the Lafayette Masonic Lodge in Cumming, Georgia.
In his later years, Bud and Frankie lived in Ellijay, Georgia where they both loved to fish in the trout streams with family members and friends. His last four years, he spent with Frankie in Athens, Georgia next door to his granddaughter’s family. He became passionate about coin collecting and enjoyed many trips to the bank looking for special coins. He loved his visits with family and friends, but the light of his life was spending time and Face-Timing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m., in Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell.
