

A native of Athens, Mrs. Skelton was the daughter of the late Rufus Rubbin Lester and Mary Echo Hollis Lester. She graduated from Athens High in 1960 and attended Athens Business College. Mrs. Skelton worked at General Time Corp, the YMCA, B & F Associates Hardware Company, and retired from Bernstein Funeral Home as an office manager. She was member of West End Baptist Church and Mary Martha Sunday school class, which she loved dearly. Mrs. Skelton was a past director of WMU, was involved in Acteens and Awana, and a children’s Sunday school teacher.
Wanza loved putting together jigsaw puzzles and solving cross word puzzles. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and fishing.
To her family and friends, Wanza was always an encourager with a bright smile and outlook.
Survivors include husband, of 46 years, Kenneth Skelton; sons, Chad S Skelton and his wife, Phyllis of Maxeys, GA and Bryan Lee Skelton and his wife, Dawn of Apex, NC; brother, Michael Lester and his wife, Faye of Athens, GA; sister, Mary Frances (Sis) Eberhart and her husband, Cecil of Colbert, GA; grandchildren, Abel B Edmondson, Jenny S Edmondson, Lance Bryan Skelton, and Nicholas (Nic) Lee Skelton.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Friday, July 23rd in the Chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev Luther Fouche and Rev Ray Finger officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, July 22nd at Bernstein.
