William "Bill" Francis Baugnon

Bill grew up on Lanier Boulevard in the Morningside area of Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended Morningside Grammar School and Sacred Heart School. He graduated from Marist College High School in 1954, in downtown Atlanta, which is currently the site of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At Marist, he was the class secretary, class treasurer, on the yearbook staff, an Altar Boy, and a Captain in the Officer’s Club. He later graduated with a degree in Accounting from Georgia State University.

Bill was brilliant at his IT job with Southern Bell (later Bellsouth and now AT&T), where he worked for 31 years until his retirement in November 1993. He initially worked in New Orleans, which is where he met his wife, Diann. The two fell in love and married in June 1963. They moved to Atlanta and started their family together shortly thereafter. They were very involved in their community and their home was always full of love and laughter by their boys and their friends. Diann and Bill loved to cook and always hosted a New Year's Day celebration. Bill maintained many friends from his days at Southern Bell; meeting one Thursday a month for lunch up until a few years ago. He spent the last six years of his life living in Athens, GA with his youngest son and their family.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Charles Baugnon and Mary Ellen Summers Baugnon, his siblings Catherine Elise Baugnon (Lynch) and Louis Charles Baugnon, Jr., as well as his beloved wife, Diann Nathalie Cloutman (Baugnon). Bill will always be remembered with much love by his eldest son, Robert Baugnon (wife Amee Baugnon, grandchildren Rebecca, Matthew, Sierra, and Morgan, great-grandchildren Miriam, Penelope and Harriett); son, James Baugnon (wife Kristen Baugnon, grandchildren Emily and James); and his youngest son, Christopher Baugnon (wife Erica Baugnon, grandchildren Cooper and Nathalie), as well as a long list of deeply saddened nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. The Church is located at 1406 Hearst Dr., Brookhaven, GA 30319. The family will be hosting a reception at the home of Jimmy and Kristen Baugnon immediately following the ceremony at 2666 Redding Rd., NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. An additional service will be held in New Orleans as we lay Bill's ashes to rest.
