A native of Bogart, Mr. Hammond was a son of the late Frank Pierce Hammond and Daisy Mae Culver Hammond. He was a truck driver for Ryder Logistics and was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gail Freeman Hammond.
Survivors include sons, William Donald "Duck" Hammond Jr. of Alto and Richard Gary Hammond of Watkinsville; daughters-in-law, Paula and Tina Hammond; sister, Eva Mae Burgess of Bogart; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Hammond, Richard Hammond Jr., Heather Hammond, Joshua Hammond, Timothy Hammond, Crystal Hammond-Scruggs, Jacob Hammond and Brenda Hammond; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 6 from 5-9 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Casper officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
