A friend to all and stranger to none, W. T. (Tom to everyone) Doster passed away at age 74, on December 9, 2025. He was under Home Hospice care in his home in Athens, Ga. His illness was an unmerciful one—but Tom had faith. He trusted in God. He put his faith over his fear and faced his illness with his heart open.
He told his stories and jokes even as he lost his voice and made us laugh with that twinkle in his eyes. As in his faith, he never faltered in his friendships.
He cherished each, and his home was always open—just as his heart was.
He is survived by his wife Martha, aunt Beverly Langford, his brother Mike, his nephew Michael with Mary Catherine, and a number of friends, neighbors, fellow workers and customers who became family in his heart and theirs.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 17, at 1:30 p.m., in Prospect Cemetery off Tallassee Road in Athens, with time for friends to speak as well.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the ASPCA would be appreciated.
