
Sargent was born on June 4th, 1925 in Florence Co., SC to Samuel and Lovy Leach. She graduated Lake City, SC high school at the age of 16. In 1942, she moved to Atlanta to live with her beloved aunt and uncle, Pearl and "Unc", while attending The Draughon School of Commerce. Althea married Jack D. Sargent Sr. on June 6th, 1950. She was an active member of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church and the Atlanta Athletic Club for many years. Her interests included family, playing bridge, gardening, and reading. Sargent was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother, and exceptional friend. Family and friends will always remember her infectious giggle, words of wisdom, and perserverance.
Al is survived by sons Kenneth Sargent (Elaine) and Jack Douglas Sargent Jr. (Cheryl) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren Amelia Sargent of Brooklyn, NY, Sarah Sargent of Atlanta, GA, and Jack Douglas Sargent III (Amber) of Atlanta, GA; two sisters Betty Bridgeman and Tricia Hanna of Lake City, SC; also many nieces, nephews, and great friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Jack Douglas Sargent Sr., brother Kenneth Leach, and daughter-in-law Paula Sargent.
A private graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park on February 4th, 2021 at 11:00 am with her immediate family.
