Amen Kiros

Amen was born on July 21, 2003, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, to parents Kiros and Mamina, from Ethiopia. She spent her childhood in both countries and graduated from Lakeside High School in 2021, forging many friendships along the way. She waited tables at local Chamblee restaurants and was taking carpentry classes. She was resourceful, creative, and good with her hands, and routinely committed those skills to helping others — from repairing small broken items to designing a vanity desk for her sister, renovating her father’s living room, and building a stage for a local community space.

Amen was playful, bright, authentic, and quick to smile. She spoke four languages, including Amharic, Tigrinya, English, and French. Her favorite color was green, which she wore often with an eclectic assortment of rings. She loved babies and animals, especially her black cat, Lilo. She deeply cherished her family and friends, for whom she always made time to connect, often over food, music, and laughter. She was “tiny but mighty,” known for her can-do attitude, strong sense of fashion, and above all, her eagerness to listen and be present for anyone who needed it. She had a knack for reaching people deeply and positively.

Amen leaves behind a loving family, including her sisters Blenna and Delayna, her brother Haben, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. All those whose lives she touched are invited to attend a service in her honor at 2 P.M. on Thursday, August 20, at the H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel in Atlanta, to reminisce, grieve, as well as to celebrate Amen’s life and support each other. Black attire is discouraged, and green colors are recommended.
