Ann Parlier (97) passed away after soldiering arduously for eighteen months attempting to overcome the neurological and physical damage resulting from several falls while living independently in the home she helped design fifty-six years ago. Born in North Carolina, Ann moved to Greensboro during WW II to work for the government and found the love of her life, Thomas Richard Parlier, Jr. (deceased). Together they built a life based on Judeo-Christian ethics and brotherly love. Ann was part of a protest in front of the Woolworth’s in downtown Greensboro walking a peaceful picket with students from Bennett College before the historic lunch counter sit-in took place. From that point on, Ann waged a not-so-private crusade for equal rights and privileges for all Americans serving on several mission-oriented programs sponsored by First Baptist Church of Greensboro and (upon moving to Atlanta) Wieuca Road Baptist Church. Known by most as a fearless redhead, she suffered no foolishness when it came to political rhetoric designed to oppress, subjugate and/or alienate any other fellow members of the human race. Ann was a lifelong proud Democrat, active in every presidential campaign beginning with Adlai Stevenson and ending with Hillary Clinton. Surviving are one son David Parlier and his life-partner Edgie Wallace, Jr.; and the family of one deceased son, Thomas Richard Parlier III, including his wife Sandra Moore Parlier, Ann’s two cherished grandchildren: Thomas Richard Parlier IV and Beth Parlier Wendl, Beth’s husband Paul Wendl and Beth’s four adored step-children: Coleman, Olivia, Walker and Caleb. Ann’s extended North Carolina family includes two beloved nieces and their spouses: Kathy and Bill Anderson of New Bern and Judy and Jack Heath of Greensboro. Visitation with the family is Sunday November 25th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at H. M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill and will be followed by a private graveside service. Instead of flowers the family encourages donations in Ann’s name to her beloved Brookhaven Christian Church 4500 Peachtree Road Atlanta, GA 30319 http://www.brookhavenchristian.org.
