Obituary of Barbara Anne Chilton Causey
Causey, Barbara Chilton, age 93 of Atlanta, GA, passed away at home August 7, 2022. Traveler, caregiver, creative, never-ending interest in friends and family, and her grand-daughters, Katie and Carol, praised Grandma Baba as one, “who makes the World a more Cheerful Place”. She was a lifelong member of Atlanta First Church of the Nazarene for more than 85 years. Born in Atlanta, GA, on April 21, 1929, she was the oldest child of John F. Chilton, Sr. and Marguerite Meiere Chilton. She graduated from Decatur Girls High School in 1946 and became the third generation to attend Asbury College in Kentucky. Barbara became engaged in the spring of 1948 to Jack Causey whom she met four years earlier through her Sunday school teacher, Jack’s mother, Norma Mae Causey. Barbara worked for AT&T before she married her teenage sweetheart, Jack C. Causey. Three children soon followed as well as being a grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara was multi-talented. As a seamstress, she could draw a pattern and design a stunning outfit for any member of the family. Endless hours of being a Girl Scout leader, PTA member, helping her children as well as grandchildren with projects, papers, and trips to the library. Summers were spent traveling and camping with the family across the U.S. As a grandparent, she visited England, spent several months in Germany with her grandchildren and traveled to Japan, China, and South Korea. The oldest of three siblings, she is survived by a brother and sister; John F. Chilton (Sara) and Catherine C. Duncan; children, Janet Causey Roling (Mark), Gail Causey and David Causey(Cynthia); grandchildren, Katie Roling Pfeifer (Scott), Carol Roling Stiehr (Scott), Luke Roling (Kristen), John Roling (Lauren), Melanie Knapp (Kevin), Michael Causey, Mark (Danielle) Causey, and Matthew Causey; and 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In honor of her memory, contributions can be made to “Annandale Village” (please note the memorial in the memo line), addressed to Annandale Village, 3500 Annandale Lane, Suwanee, GA 30024. Barbara’s oldest daughter, Gail, resides at Annandale Village (Community for Adults with Special Needs).
