Born on June 30, 1943, in Atlanta, Barbara lived her entire life in the city she loved. She was a proud graduate of North Fulton High School in 1961 and went on to earn her degree from Georgia State University. She then began a career as an analyst at First National Bank of Atlanta and was one of the first women to earn the title of Officer.
Two of Bebe’s passions were dance and music. In high school, she was a member of the prestigious North Fulton Special Choir. As a young woman, she danced with the Atlanta Ballet (then known as the Atlantic Civic Ballet) and was proud to have performed in their first production of Balanchine’s The Nutcracker in 1959. Bebe enjoyed the Atlanta Symphony and was a longtime season subscriber.
What Bebe truly loved most was her family and her role as a mother. She also had a lifelong passion for Southern culture and history along with a deep love of journalism and literature. She was known for her impressive command of language and was a master conversationalist. She will also be remembered for how genuinely she made people feel welcome, her social graces, her beautiful cross-stitched gifts, and her rich vocabulary.
A memorial service will be held on 01/02/2026 at 2pm at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel followed by a reception immediately after. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Atlanta Ballet in Bebe’s honor at: https://tinyurl.com/BebeKilpatrickMemorial
