So sorry to see of Brian's passing.  He was such a good friend during my tenure at Larson-Juhl.  We worked a couple of Franchise shows in Washington DC together and after one of these shows had a meal at a restuarant in China town that sticks in my memory as one of the most enjoyable times in my life.  I'll toast to him tonight.  Rest in Peace dear friend.

When we look back on the times we shared with Brian & Maddie, we can truthfully say they were some of the most memorable times in our lives. We worked, played, vacationed and enjoyed life together. Everyone of our seven children remembered and admired him. All of them pitched in to throw him and Maddie a party when he became a USA citizen.  We really missed them when they moved to another state and regret that we were not able to see them as often as we would have liked. We will see you again in the hereafter.

To the friends and family, I am deeply saddened by the loss of your loved one. I will always have a part of him in my heart, that he touched so much. Brian you will be missed for all etrernity for you have touched so many of us in so many ways.

To all, my name is Doug and I met Brian over 3 years ago through the love of their daughter Tracy I was so glad, no privaledged to have the opportunity to spend time with him and Maddie. I will never ever forget. In such a short time Brian has taught me things, the English language(Queens English) the family history, stamp & coin collections and art. I can remember one night we were alll siting around, I said I talian well he told me to prononce it Italian we all laughed. Going over the history of where he has been in the world and the knowledge of the world, peoples cultures and much more he was eager to share that with me and explain. That was truly amazing.  

Brian you loved golf and we got to share some highlights of golf but never got the chance to play, well one day you and I will meet again and we will play that round of golf we always talked about.

Brian you will be forever missed. You made me feel so welcomed in the family I admire you so much, and thank you.

As I asked you recently for your blessing I promise to take care of Tracy and make her a part of my life forever.

My thoughts and prayers are with Maddie and her family and know Maddie if you ever need anything I will always be close by.

I first met Brian, thirty three years ago, when he was selling me the Logan Mat cutter,a well made, high quality, over engineered product, which I think could also be said of Brian.  Throughout the years Brian not only sold me great high quality products, and taught me how to properly use them ,but he also demonstrated honesty, integrity  and trust .  He also helped me learn how to teach others those values.  He has always been an instrumental person in my career and a good friend in my life.  I will deeply miss him.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Words seem so inadequate when we lose someone, who not only had such an impact on us, but gave so much to the picture framing industry and defined class as a fellow human being.

Brian was a straight shooter.. he spoke to you honestly and directly. When you needed something done and done well he would be the person to give the task to - and if he didn't want the task, he would tell you.  Brian was much more than just honest and direct...he also had this mischievious grin that indicated he saw the humorous side in life in almost any situation. 

He was powerful but also extremely gentle. 

He was always intelligent and in command of himself. He was a gentlemen - old fashioned, perhaps, but true to himself, always.  Young people today should take note of his style and grace.

I met Brian in a head on head confrontation many years ago - and let me tell you that this big bear could be intimidating - I felt like Tiny Tim, asking for "more please" when I had to explain myself to him. True to his character, Brian accepted my response and moved forward. That is who Brian was...he could always see the Big Picture. 

Brian was always open minded to change and accepting of new ideas.   He was technical, and an engineer, and you could see this attention to detail in his work on any project.  I knew of Brian when he was first with Logan Graphic Products prior to his postions at Larson-Juhl. I got to know him over the years and always enjoyed working with him. He was one of the first to embrace "Full Vision" in the 1980's - computerized image simulations of framed artwork! Imagine that?

Brian and I not only shared Anglo heritage, and those things "English", although he was South African, but also we shared the taste for great dining, fine wine and travel. We discovered that we were both also Baltimore Oriole fans, and fellow philatelists (Brian always collected the more expensive stuff however!) - these common interests always gave us something to talk about at trade shows, outside of picture framing.

Brian and I became fellow Mat Drs for PFM and taught numerous mat cutting classes side-by-side at the WCAF Show. But where, I'll remember him best, is stting by the fire two Summer's ago in our backyard garden sharing a wonderful glass of port, while he told us great stories...

Words can hardly convey the sadness of losing such a close and great friend. Brian was loved by everyone in the Hill family. We spent wonderful times  in places like Huatulco, Mexico and Vinca, France with Maddie and Brian and have such fond memories. 
Brian was a gentleman and a man of principle. He had such talent in an extraordinarily wide array of disciplines and pursuits. 
Above everything though was the love he constantly demonstrated for Maddie and of course his lovely family. We can all learn from the example he set when one looks at the relationship between he and Maddie.
Will miss him more than anyone will know

I will miss you, you were one of the good guys.  Thank you for taking the time you did with me early in my framing career at Larson Juhl.  I quickly came to value your insights, always appreciated the fact that you were approachable, loved your energy and really enjoyed the good times both during and after work hours that we had, including but not limited to time on the golf course.

To Brian's family;  please accept sincere condolences from someone who while living far from you, will keep you all,and Brian, in my heart and in my thoughts and prayers.  I am sure that while you will miss him forever, the best of him will live on in you, and he had a lot in the "best" category.
