Carolyn (Wolf) Lang passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at age 91 surrounded by her daughter Marla and close family friends Rev. Dr. Gray and Pam Norsworthy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James H. Lang, and is survived by her three children Gregory Lang (Suzanne) of Mason, MI; Robert Lang (Diane) of Altadena, CA; Marla Lang of Atlanta, GA; and grandchildren Autumn Lang of Walnut Creek, CA; Kate Lang of Chicago, IL; Isabel San Miguel and Samuel San Miguel, both of Atlanta, GA; as well as countless friends who loved her for her wit, her kindness, and her generous heart.
Carolyn Jean Wolf was born in Dayton, OH in 1934 and grew up with her beloved siblings, older sister Marla Joy, and younger brothers Richard and Gary. Carolyn graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Jefferson High School, and after graduation, modeled for local department stores. She later took a job at Chrysler Airtemp where she met her future husband. They married on May 27, 1957 and were together until Jim’s death in 2014. The family spent several years living in Huber Heights (OH), New Orleans (LA), Atlanta (GA), and Centerville (OH) before settling back in Atlanta in 1972. They joined Shallowford Presbyterian Church which became the center of their life and community. It was at Shallowford where Carolyn developed several close friend groups which were a great support for her over the years. At Shallowford, Carolyn served as an Elder, worked with the Presbyterian Women organization, and knitted for the Prayer Shawl ministry. She also served as a volunteer receptionist, delighted to assist callers and visitors.
Carolyn tirelessly supported her husband and family, whether working with Jim in his HVAC business, the concession stands at Fitzgerald Fields in Tucker for the boys’ little league football and baseball games, or taking the family to Marla’s ballet recitals and basketball games. As her three children grew into adults, she was quietly proud of their accomplishments, especially their love and regard for one another. Among her happiest roles was that of grandmother to her own four grandchildren, her “adopted” grandchildren Mason, Cameron, and Maggie, and her friends’ and family’s children and grandchildren. She loved having fun and being silly, and these are the sweetest memories by which her friends and family remember her.
Carolyn also loved sewing, whether for herself, costumes and clothing for her children when they were little, or doll clothes. An avid doll collector, she was well-known for her love of dolls, both antique and modern, a pastime she shared with her long-time friend, Judy Hemenway.
A memorial service will be held at Shallowford Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 6th at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Anna Traynham and Rev. Dr. Gray Norsworthy officiating. A private interment will be held at Shallowford Presbyterian Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Shallowford Presbyterian Church for the youth ministry, the music ministry, or SPC Women.
