Charles Glenn Mizell

Charles Glenn Mizell passed away on October 4, 2017 at his home after a brief illness. Charlie was born in Tallahassee, FL in 1939 but was a true Atlantan from his early teenage years. He graduated from Murphy High School and went on to get his Degree from Georgia State University. In 1966, he married his life partner, Joy Woodard. Together they built a successful printing business in Decatur where Charlie was a supporter of many community projects. He was an avid golfer and played many courses in his travels including Pebble Beach, which he felt was not up to par. He was also known by his friends for his great navigation skills and stories of landmarks along the way. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Joy, sister Sally O’Kelley, nieces Kerry Manning, Cayce Davis (Greg) and nephew George O’Kelley (Terri). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m. at H. M. Patterson and Son Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Brookhaven 30319. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charlie’s name to Visiting Nurse (Hospice Atlanta) 1244 Park Vista Drive, Atlanta, GA 30319 or to a charity of your choice.

I worked for Charlie in 1989-1991, in his print shop. He was such a man of honor and dignity.
Charlie had such a big heart. I was only 26 years old and he treated me like a daughter, even offered to let me drive his ( Joy's) Jaguar around the block.
Charlie made a difference in my life and in the world.
He will be greatly missed.
My heart goes out to his family

Charlie was a great person. He always had a smile, a kind word and a great sense of style. Jerry and I enjoyed his quick wit, his love for life and especially seeing how much he loved Joy. We will miss seeing him at family functions

Charlie will always be remembered by me for his devotion to my family, especially my son Cliff, who he helped navigate through his teenage years. Charlie is a wonderful example of a life well lived. Love to you, Joy. I am thinking of you with sympathy and caring.

We're very sorry to hear this news. I knew Charlie through his printing business - he did all the printing work for my bicycle store. He was also a very strong supporter of the Decatur Business Association as well as local Decatur groups and events. He was ALWAYS willing to help out or make a contribution to whatever cause I walked in with. I enjoyed his sense of humor too!

Our best to Joy and the rest of the family. She may not remember, but she helped take care of my Great Aunt, "Punkie" Henry, years ago when she was in the hospital.

Our thoughts are with you all.

Charlie was always most enjoyable as a past member of our Alpharetta/Milton Country Club Senior group. He always had a smile no matter how his game progressed. We will miss him. Bob Volz (Milton, GA.)

I enjoyed golfing and being with Charlie.
I liked his marking on his golf ball (soccer design).
