

Lamar was born on April 29, 1937 to William Henry Nash and Berta Guthrie Nash. He was the youngest of six children; Howard, Vernice, Gartrell, Norris, and Roberta. He graduated from Lilburn High School and went on to attend the University of Georgia. He married his beloved wife Patricia Roebuck Nash in November of 1985. He had four children; Chuck (Sharman), Billy (Vickie), Denise (Sam), and Casey. He had seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren that he adored.
Lamar always harnessed a passion for sales. He began his career in the automobile industry as a salesman with Boomershine Pontiac and by 27 he was the owner of Lamar Nash Buick, Pontiac, GMC in Buford, Georgia. In his ventures with his own company, he obtained many accolades and awards for his exemplary skills in sales and marketing. Later in his automotive career he was the owner of Peach State Auto Auction.
While being a respected member of the Buford community, he served as President of the Kiwanis Club where he introduced one of the first horse shows to the area. His interest in horses continued with his National Champion Walking horse, Ace’s Superstar. Another passion of Lamar’s was his love for country music. This passion eventually led him to be a music promoter and a member of the CMA, where he became well acquainted with many Nashville celebrities of the time including Kenny Rogers, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Lee Lewis, Randy Travis and The Judds.
Lamar had a lifelong passion for Georgia football and never missed watching a game. One of his greatest memories was being at the Sugar Bowl with his beloved brother Gartrell, watching their team win the National Championship. He enjoyed several years of cruising the intercoastal waterways with his wife Pat, on their boat ACT II. Lamar was an avid traveler with Pat traveling all around the world with their son Casey. The two also loved to host parties at their farm, Rose Hill, on the outskirts of Athens.
Later in life, after a life altering stroke, he and Pat moved to Park Place in Buckhead where he continued to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. He was dearly loved by family, friends, and all who met him and will be deeply missed by those lives he touched.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Lamar on Thursday, July 9, 2026. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son–Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Camp Creek Church Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 302 Camp Creek Road SW, Lilburn, Georgia 30047.
