Charles Henry Taylor, 63, Brookhaven, Georgia, passed away of natural causes unexpectedly on July 8, 2025. Charles is survived by his wife Janet, sons Jackson and Spencer, daughters Christine Wolgamot (Doug) and Jackie Taylor Neese (Charlie), and granddaughters Hailey, Lola, and Lilly. He is also survived by his mother, Sue Taylor, sisters Angie (June) and Rhonda (Darren), brother Bob (Colleen), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, David Henry Taylor.
Charles's life was defined by compassion, service, and the pursuit of excellence. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota’s College of Biological Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. He continued his medical education at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he maintained memberships in Phi Kappa Phi and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Charles went on to complete his internship and residency at St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he served as Chief Resident. Following his medical training, Charles joined the National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities at the CDC, where he contributed to important research on Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome.
In 1992, Charles married law student Janet Egli, and upon their graduations from medical school and law school, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where they made their home for most of their 33-year marriage. After moving to Atlanta, Charles co-founded a traditional practice which would grow into Perimeter North Family Medicine, with more than 100 employees and 18 physicians across multiple clinics. Charles was instrumental in converting his practice to the concierge model, focusing on preventative medicine. As a physician, he was known for his calm demeanor, attention to detail, and genuine care for each of his patients, many of whom became lifelong friends.
Charles’s passion for service extended far beyond the walls of his clinic, as he regularly participated in medical mission trips, bringing life-saving care and education to underserved communities in Brazil, Thailand, and other parts of the world. At home, he served as a team doctor for the Marist Football Team for more than a decade, and he was often called into the stands to treat injured band members, as well. Charles was a trusted caregiver to coaches, teachers, classmates, and even priests. At Marist, Charles was not just a doctor, he was their doctor.
Charles’s drive to succeed is reflected in his children and grandchildren, whose accomplishments he cherished. Charles was delighted to become a grandfather, and he was always excited to talk about Hailey, Lola, and Lilly, and how proud he was of their academic, athletic, and social achievements. Most of all, Charles was proud of the young men and women that Christy, Jackie, Jackson, Spencer, and his grandchildren have become.
Charles will be missed by a loving family who will cherish the memories made during the time they had together, and he will remain in their hearts forever.
A service celebrating Charles will be held at Dunwoody United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Additional details are below.
