Cheryl (Cherri) Diane Greenhill, wife of the late John Greenhill, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior April 9, 2026. Born in Windsor, ON Canada on August 15, 1946, she was the daughter of Derek Grundy Sr. and Kathleen Zettel Grundy (both predeceased).
Cherri spent her first decades in Ontario and went to a school of radiology to study to be an x-ray tech. Her servant first mentality served her well in this medical field as she would stay in it from graduation until her retirement from being a tech in the early 2000s after over 40 years of service.
Her first son Duncan was born in 1972 and resembled his mother with their signature red hair. A few years later, Cherri met the love of her life John at a dance in Mississauga. They would get married on March 10, 1976 in Toronto. Just over a year later in 1977, she would have her second son Blair Greenhill (Brenda).
Cherri was a woman of faith whose relationship with Christ was paramount in her life. She and John would start off their days in the word, a habit formed emulating her parents Derek and Kay.
In 1985 Cherri and John made the move south of the border to Mt. Pleasant, SC. Cherri would work at East Cooper Hospital and Trident Regional Medical Center focusing on CAT scans. She would enjoy watching her sons Blair and Duncan play sports, the weather and history, and all else the Lowcountry had to offer, and fell in love with Clemson University and their football team after Duncan went there in 1988 and Blair followed in 1995.
Cherri would tell you she was meant to be a boy’s mother. She was a sports fan and even coached Blair and cousin Joe Geffros to a championship in Little League baseball. She loved the Blue Jays and Clemson football.
After Blair left for college, Cherri and John headed back to the Great White North to be closer to Cherri’s mother Kathleen Grundy in Kitchener. They would bounce back and forth between the two countries trying to be near to loved ones and made their new American home in the Upstate of South Carolina where Cherri spent her remaining years becoming beloved Nan to her grandkids.
She will be sorely missed by her sister, Deidra Sfreddo (Louis) of Elkhart, IN; brother, Derek Grundy Jr. (Laurie) of Hanover, ON ; brother-in-law Michael Greenhill of Kitchener, ON; nieces, Erin Nickell, Sarah Runge, Bethany Dietz; nephews, Ryan Sfreddo, Andrew Sfreddo, Chris Greenhill, Johnathan Greenhill, Josh Grundy, Davey Grundy; grandchildren, Haven Campbell and Lauren, William, and Elisabeth Greenhill. Her aunts, uncles, and many cousins are sorrowing as well as friends and cohorts.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 20, 2026, 2 p.m., at H.M. Patterson & Sons Oglethorpe Hill Chapel – 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to In Touch Ministries.
