Chrystine Ward Carson

Teeny was born June 11, 1960 in Atlanta and was the oldest of three children. She grew up in Montgomery, Alabama after moving there at the age of four and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1978. Teeny went to the University of Alabama, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity. She went on to a storied fifteen-year career selling fixed income products with Merrill Lynch, First Atlanta Securities, First Boston, and Bear Stearns before founding her own private wealth management recruiting business. She later worked as a real estate agent with Dorsey Alston, where she also renovated and sold homes across the Atlanta BeltLine.

In 1982, Teeny and Howard met on a blind date. It only took them 15 years to realize they were meant to be together, and in 1997 they got married at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta. Teeny and Howard have two remarkable children, Kate (2000) and Angus (2002). Teeny devoted her life to her children, regularly volunteering as a team mom at their sporting events as well as at the Trinity Art Auction and the Parents Association at the Westminster Schools (PAWS). Outside of her family, Teeny’s life revolved around her horses. From her earliest years, she could be found fox hunting with her father and brother with Midland Hunt Club or riding her horse to Grace Episcopal Church in Pike Road. Teeny competed as a hunter-jumper and three-day evented for most of her life, including while she was pregnant with Kate.

Teeny's smile and infectious laugh lit up every room she entered, and her humor found its way into everything she did. Her glass-half-full approach to life meant she could find something good in any person or any problem. She never met a stranger; she went out of her way to help everyone, even those she barely knew. Her heart was enormous, and so was the community that loved her in return. Teeny was her children's biggest fan, parenting with understanding and unwavering acceptance, and was always in their corner. She was a steadfast friend, the kind who showed up through hard times and never left your side, leaving you laughing along the way. Guided by her abiding faith in God, she offered sage wisdom and counsel to all who needed it, and always seemed to know the right thing to do. She loved animals just as much as people, frequently rescuing stray dogs and cats from the middle of the highway or at the farm. Teeny never turned down good music (especially Led Zeppelin), a day at the beach, or a trail ride at the farm. Above all, Teeny was strong and passionate, and she loved with her whole heart.

Teeny is predeceased by her father, A. Almon Ward, and mother, Frances Threadgill Ward. She is survived by her husband, E. Howard Carson Jr. of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Kathleen Amelia Carson of Charlotte, NC; son, David Allen Angus Carson of Jackson, WY; brothers, William Almon Ward of Montgomery, AL and Sidney Powell Ward of Atlanta, GA; and nephews, Ken Upchurch Ward of Washington, DC and Sidney Foster Ward of Auburn, AL.

A service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on August 6th at 2:00 p.m. with a reception for guests following.
