David was a native of Dothan, Alabama. After graduating from Dothan High School, he joined the U.S. Army. Upon completion of specialized training in cryptography, David was assigned for duty in the Pentagon in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff, Intelligence, where he served for two years.
In 1959, David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Alabama, graduating after two and a half school years and achieving the highest scholastic record of his class.
Upon graduation, he joined the Consulting Division of Arthur Andersen & Co. in Atlanta. David was a CPA and spent the last ten years of his career as a Partner in Andersen’s Office of Federal Services in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1993.
David was one of the first volunteers to join the Carter for President campaign. He developed and implemented the campaign’s first financial reporting system, enabling the campaign to properly comply with federal election laws. He subsequently worked as part of the Carter-Mondale Transition Planning Group. During the first two years of the Carter administration, David served as a loaned executive to the White House and the Office of Management and Budget, working on the Administration’s efforts to make improvements in the organization and structure of the federal government.
David was preceded in death by his brother, James Webster Woodham of Dothan. He is survived by his three sons, David Hulon, Jr., John Floyd, and Edward Fuller Woodham, all of Atlanta; their mother, Deanna Floyd Woodham of Atlanta; granddaughters Nancy Gray Woodham and Isabella Rollins Colbert Woodham, both of Atlanta; nieces Darlyne Woodham Lewis and Felecia Woodham Brackin, both of Dothan; and nephew James Webster Woodham, Jr., of Houston, Texas.
David’s family will receive friends on Friday, February 15 from 6 to 8 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son – Spring Hill Chapel in Atlanta. Graveside service and burial will take place in the Woodham family plot at the Beulah Cemetery in Dothan on Saturday, February 16 at 2 pm (Central). In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
