Born in Union County, North Carolina, Dixie was the daughter of Lois Coan Long and James Wilson Long. She was predeceased by brothers Guther Long, Clyde Long, and Sam Long.
Dixie was a loyal member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class of Dunwoody United Methodist Church for 55 years.
She graduated from Kings College, Charlotte, North Carolina, with an Associate Degree in Accounting. She worked for Fickling and Walker, Macon, Georgia, and Day Realty, Atlanta, Georgia.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara Moore Purkerson (Graham), a granddaughter, Leigh Ellen Purkerson Eiberger (Christian), and three great grandchildren: Kerry Lynn Eiberger, Elise Corrine Eiberger and Brett Moore Eiberger.
