Donald Keeley, aged 79, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026 in Atlanta, Georgia. Don was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Elizabeth MacKinnon and James Harold Keeley on November, 6, 1946. He grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts and was the youngest of 3 brothers (Paul Keeley and Philip Keeley). He was a graduate of Boston College, but became a Georgia Bulldog convert after receiving his PhD at UGA. He married his loving wife Ann in 1978. They had 3 beautiful children, Norah, Mary (Drew), and Joseph, and their 5 grandchildren, Laura and Sarah Plisco, Keeley and Colin Owings, and Phillip Keeley.
Throughout his life, Don practiced his craft of psychotherapy with an abundance of adoring clients. In conversation, his quick wit was only surpassed by his inherent wisdom and remarkable ability to tell the truth – directly but lovingly – so others could hear it and be guided by it. His true passion and greatest joy was being a Dad. He traveled far and wide in the family Astro van to cheer on his children. The windows would be rolled down as he was blasting his favorite music – from Elton John to Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler.
Don was known for his hearty laugh, clever humor, and compassion for those he loved. He had the mouth of a sailor and a heart of gold.
Service information will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society.
