

Gene Goettlicher, age 88, of Atlanta, GA, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Hospice Atlanta. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27th at 11 am at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel with a visitation at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Gene was born September 7, 1928, to Joseph and Anna Goettlicher. He graduated from High School in Mankato, Minnesota, joined the Army and was stationed in Atlanta where he met the love of his life and wife, Ozelle, at an Atlanta General Depot dance. He and Ozelle were united in marriage on June 21, 1952 in Atlanta. Gene earned a business degree through Georgia State night courses while continuing to work full time to support his family and eventually retired after decades of service with the State of Georgia. He loved his family dearly, never seemed to meet anyone he couldn’t/wouldn’t befriend and enjoyed dancing, bowling, and panoramic views. He is survived by his son David (& Carol) Goettlicher; his daughters Elaine Pucciano and Joanne Mangione; nine grandchildren – Will, Mike (& Jessica), Rob (& Jessica), Mike (& Lacy), Julie (& Kevin), Amanda, Dan (& Casey), Gary and Andy; eight great-grandchildren – Micah, Kaiden, Nick, Elena, Eli, Josh, Max and David; and a dear friend Betty Byrd. He was preceded in death by his parents, his seven siblings and his wife. His focus was always on his family and friends and he will be remembered and missed by all.
