The family of Evan Kristof Schuetz announces his passing on August 25, 2025, at the age of 46, after a three-year battle with Sarcoma (cancer).
Evan was born in Berkeley, California, to Erich and Jody Schuetz on July 7, 1979. At the age of 6, the family moved to Sandy Springs, Georgia. Evan attended Fulton County schools, progressing through North Springs High School. These years developed his love of baseball. He played Little League through Dunwoody Seniors. After graduation, Evan attended the University of Georgia, where he was an active member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. UGA is also where Evan met the love of his life, Elissa Hilles. They were married on July 15, 2006, and began their married life in Fleming Island, Florida. After leaving his first job with Altria, Evan became a business owner and website developer in the Florida area. After the birth of Erickson and Emmett, they moved to Johns Creek, Georgia. Evan continued to run his business and served on the Cameron Forest HOA board. Evan was thrilled that both boys loved the game of baseball. He was their coach, mentor, and backyard skills trainer. When he wasn’t cheering on his boys at baseball games, Evan spent time with his wonder-dog Murphy, played Alta tennis, took nature walks with his family, and socialized with friends. There was hardly a time when his smile and sense of humor were not present. Evan had a natural ability to connect with anyone. He spread laughter and joy to many.
Evan is survived by his loving wife Elissa (Hilles), and sons, Erickson (12) and Emmett (9); his parents, Erich and Jody Schuetz; his brother Joel (Cassie), nephews Cole and Grant; paternal Aunt Johanna Kangal; maternal Aunt Jill Meekcums, (Lee); Uncle Jim Richardson (Terri), and cousins Lindsey, Chelsey, Sarena, Tessa, and John; in-laws Rob Hilles (Judy); sister in-law Kristen Tiurchy (Payvand); nephews James and Tanner; brother in-law Kirk Hilles (Allison) and nephew Sammy and niece Lily Kate; and we must include his sweet dog, Murphy.
Evan was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Marvin and Lucille Schuetz; maternal grandparents Jack and Barbara Richardson; and mother-in-law Diana Hilles. Golden Retriever Wrigley was waiting at Heaven’s gate, we are sure.
The Schuetz family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Klass and the staff at Wellstar Cancer Center, as well as to Dr. Read and the staff at Emory Winship Cancer Institute. Their care and guidance gave us three wonderful years with Evan during his cancer battle.
A Celebration of Life services will be held at Dunwoody United Methodist Church on September 20th, at 11:00, with a reception lunch following.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to Emmett and Erickson's 529 College Fund. Please note that each child has a separate account, and only bank transfers are accepted—credit card payments are not available. Donations can also be made to the Schuetz Family’s GoFundMe account.
