

Everett Thomas Suters died surrounded by his loving family on October 13. Born January 5, 1931, Everett was a lifelong resident of Atlanta and a graduate of North Fulton High School and Georgia State University. He began his career at Delta Air Lines and IBM and later managed his own businesses, Management Services, Inc. and Curry Enterprises. He developed a new business, College Storage, in his eighties. Everett was the author of the books Succeed in Spite of Yourself and The Unnatural Act of Management and columns published in The Wall Street Journal and Inc. magazine. At the end of his life he was working on a book about eliminating stress.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Thomas Suters, Sr. and Bessie Suters Boeke. He dearly loved his family and pets, and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gary Eilleen Still Suters; daughters Melissa (and Phyllis Buckner), Marianne (and John Varley) and Julia; devoted grandchildren Matt and Leigh Varley, and dog Millie. Everett was happiest on the beaches of St. Augustine, Florida. He never met a stranger. Everett would say to skip flowers and instead honor him by being friendly to every person you meet.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10 o’clock at Second – Ponce de Leon Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Qualls officiating. They family will receive friends at a reception to follow the memorial service at the church. Private graveside inurnment at Oakland Cemetery.
