Dr. Floyd Winfield Reifein

Floyd was born in Columbus, OH, to Wilbur and Julia Reifein on March 31, 1959. He attended school beginning in Columbus, OH, and then Dallas, TX. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas and his medical degree at Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He worked as a pediatric anesthesiologist for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for quite a few years. His passions were traveling all over the world especially Africa horseback riding through the Maasai Mara, equestrian eventing, cajoling with family and friends, and his love for dogs.

Floyd was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Reifein. He is survived by his sister, Yolanda (Dave) Launder; his brother, Tom (Kim) Reifein; his father, Wilbur Reifein; nephew, Jonathan (Emma); nieces, Jenny (Brett), Lindsay, and Olivia; great niece, Julia; and beloved chocolate lab, Henley.

The family at this time asks for understanding for their wishes for a private funeral.

Memorials in Floyd’s honor may be given to Longleaf Hospice, Atlanta, or Atlanta Humane Society.

The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to medical personnel and his caregivers, especially James Powell, to which Floyd was able to live with grace and dignity in his own domain.
