Francis “Frank” Kelly, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, age 72, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018. He had bravely confronted and battled cancer. Born June 22, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts to Francis and Helen Kelly, both deceased, he graduated from Cambridge Latin High School, then graduated from Bentley College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance & Accounting (and later becoming Trustee Emeritus), and thereafter attended Harvard Business School for MBA.
Frank spent twenty-four years with The Coca-Cola Company in various executive positions with domestic and international responsibilities before retiring as Vice President in addition to having been the Executive Vice President of Coca-Cola Nestle, a joint venture beverage company formed in 1991. Before returning to The Coca-Cola Company in his second stint, he was President & CEO of PepsiCo Japan. More recently, Frank was a board member for numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations including Carmel Bioscience, Hygea Health Network, and InVasc Therapeutics as well as being a former board member of Bentley College (now Bentley University), The Arthritis Foundation, Entaire Global, New City Corp, Rainmaker Financial, among other companies.
Frank loved golf and his favorite sports teams in the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Masako Kelly of Atlanta, GA and Tokyo, Japan; his five sons: Ryan Kelly of Duluth, GA; Simon Kelly of Shanghai, China; Jonathan and Jessica Kelly of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Sean and Shari Kelly of Atlanta, GA; and David Kelly of San Diego, CA; his five grandsons: Austin, Hirota, Ayden, Naota, and Cade; his granddaughter, Emi; and his two sisters, Sheila Conopka of Hudson, NH and Mary Ellen Zier of Lowell, MA.
The family will receive guests for visitation from 5:30-8PM, with a 7PM Vigil, on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. A funeral mass will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30305. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
