Frank was born in Charlottesville, VA to Arthur Francis and Agnes Margaret MacConochie. He graduated from St. Christopher’s School and the University of Virginia with a degree in engineering geology. Frank started his career in sales with IBM and was a manager for McDevitt & Street where he worked on projects including the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, The Cathedral of St. Philip and renovations to the Georgia State Capitol. Following this, he started his own company, MacConochie Construction Company, an Atlanta-based general contracting firm. Projects included the Cotton Exchange Building, nearly 200 locations for Federal Express and the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Frank served on the Board of Trustees for the Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation for 50 years, was a past president of the University of Virginia Atlanta Alumni Association, and a member of the Atlanta Jaycees. He was also a life member of the Capital City Club where he found great entertainment at his Saturday morning breakfasts with the Exercise Group Class for many years.
Frank is survived by his loving daughters, Megan, Katharine, and Cameron, as well as son-in-law Peyton Park, his beloved grandson, Franklin, and a bevy of wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alistair and Ian and his sister Sheila.
A celebration of life will take place at a future date when circumstances allow.
