Rev. Fred L. Cox, Jr., 93, of Atlanta, died May 31, 2011. An Army Veteran of WWII, Rev. Cox was the founding pastor of Northwoods Baptist Church, where he served as pastor for 28 years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Kinard Cox; sons and daughter-in-law, Fred L. Cox, III, James T. Cox and Cathy; daughters and son-in-laws, Mary Ann Cox Bower and Michael, Sara Cox Gardner and Jeff; 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Cox, sisters, Gwen Caswell, Margaret Cox, Jackie Abernathy. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4th at 2 o’clock at Northeast Baptist Church with a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, the Lottie Moon offering, SBC or the charity of your choice.
