He subsequently received his MBA from Georgia State University. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at UGA.
From Atlanta to Wall Street and back, Bubba combined deep market knowledge with southern warmth and sophistication. Bubba spent more than 20 years at Prudential Securities before its merger with a Wells Fargo Advisors predecessor. Before becoming a financial advisor, he built a career in fixed income securities trading, and institutional coverage and underwriting. He progressed from regional management positions in Atlanta and Philadelphia to a position in New York where he became co-head of the debt capital markets group. By 2002, he added fixed income and equity portfolio management to his supervision and served on Prudential Securities’ Operating Council. Returning home in 2004, Bubba served individuals and institutions, applying his fixed income and portfolio management experience. Bubba was active with organizations focused on individuals with disabilities, including serving as board chairman of Great Prospects, Inc. and as an advisor and coach for Fulton County Special Olympics. He and his wife, Cathy, reside in Atlanta, while their son, Brett, lives in Tampa.
He married Catherine Lewis in 1988 in Roswell, GA. They have one son, Brett, and a furry four-legged Golden Retriever, Baloo.
If you were to ask any of Bubba’s close friends, they would all say he had a personality larger than life. One of his many gifts included turning clients, colleagues, and acquaintances into personal friends. He always went the extra mile for everyone whose life he touched. Bubba treasured times with his family and friends, whether it was on the golf course, scuba diving, or having a few Amstel Lights at The Bucket Shop.
Bubba is preceded in death by his father Garland P. Bennett, Jr., and his son Payne Bennett. He is survived by the love of his life, Catherine, their son, Brett, and his mother, Beverly Poole Bennett; his siblings Ann Valentino (Mark), Susie Adams (Curtis), Pat Yates (Gary), and numerous nieces and nephews.
