

Gerard “Jerry” Joseph Schramm, 90, of Atlanta, Georgia, widower of Martha Farris Schramm, died Monday morning, March 5, 2012. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late John and Marie Schramm. Mr. Schramm served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II, seeing action as a radioman on a P.T. boat in the New Guinea campaign. He attended both Trinity College and Yale University. Mr. Schramm retired as a regional marketing manager from Royal Insurance Company in 1986 after 38 years of service. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Atlanta for more than 50 years where he was an usher. Mr. Schramm was a member of P.T. Boats, Inc. and attended a number of reunions with his boat mates from P.T. 334 along with other P.T. veterans. Mr. Schramm was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered by all that knew him for his kindness, generosity and sense of humor.
Surviving are one son, Gerard J. Schramm, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia Napier Schramm, of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Catherine, Emma and Alec Schramm; two sisters, Ann House and Mary Reynolds, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4450 Peachtree Rd, NE.
The funeral mass will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2855 Briarcliff Rd NE. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
