

.Harriet Williams "Peg" Solms, 89, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 23, 2011, after struggling bravely with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Easley, SC to Dr. and Mrs. B. O. Williams. Peg was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert F. Hodgson, who was killed serving in World War II, and her second husband, William O. Solms, who passed away in 2010.
Peg attended the University of Georgia and received a degree in Fine Arts in 1944, studying under the instruction of Lamar Dodd. A lifelong painter in oils and watercolor, Peg focused on the beauty of the natural world, particularly birds and flowers. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, active in the Primrose Garden Club, the Junior League, and sewing club. She established the Coca-Cola Latin Ladies group. Additionally, Peg was a fifty-year breast cancer survivor.
Peg and Bill were married for over sixty-two years and had a vibrant life together. They shared a deep faith in Christ and were members of the Church of the Apostles. Bill's work for The Coca-Cola Company took them to Latin America for nearly twenty years and Miami for ten before they moved to Atlanta in 1976.
Known for her kindness and quick wit, Peg made friends everywhere she went. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and gracious hostess. She is much beloved and missed by all who knew her.
Peg is survived by her four children: William O. Solms, Jr., Nell Solms Wright, Harriet Solms Mathews, and John Sherwood Solms, and their spouses; two sister-in-laws: Ida Lee Cheves and Nell Hodgson Watt; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, in whom she took great pride.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 28th from 12:30 - 1:30 P.M., to be followed immediately by a Funeral Service celebrating Peggy’s life. Both services will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill, 1020 Spring Street NW, Atlanta GA 30309, 404-876-1022.
