

Harriet Davis Stewart, age 88, of Atlanta died Monday, March 7, 2016. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Stewart was also a homemaker, a career childcare provider, librarian, gifted poet, and a great cook. During her years of caring for children, she raised not only her own 9 but many others, which she lovingly cherished. Mrs. Stewart was also a long time member of Druid Hills Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, B. E. Stewart; her parents, Bessie Mae (Aycock) and Harry Nelson Davis; and sister, Anne McAuley. Survivors include her children, Ruth and Doug Harper of Lawrenceville, Maetha and Henry Elliott of Kennesaw, Betty and Phil McGinty of Clarkston, Eddie and Robin Stewart of Montgomery, Alabama, Nelson and Barbara Stewart of Spring, Texas, Charles and Amy Stewart of Warrenton, Virginia, Nancy and Bobby Zwald of Atlanta, Laurie and James Reece of Buford, and Susan Stewart of Atlanta; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, Marion and Matt Cooper of Alpharetta, and Joanna and Richard Anderson of Chamblee; 3 great-nieces; 1 great-nephew; and a host of family and friends. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Patterson’s Spring Hill with Rev. Dr. Charles Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
