

Mrs. Harriett Martha Perry Fant died May 31, 2015. She was born in Lawrenceville, GA on April 23, 1927. She graduated from Lawrenceville High School where she was a member of the Beta Club, the High School Band and was a member of the girls Varsity basketball team for four years. Mrs. Fant worked for General Uhl and the Third Army during WWII where she handled troop movements. She attended Georgia State University, was a member of Chi Rho Sigma sorority and was selected to represent them in the Rampway Beauty Court. While attending college, she worked part-time in the music library at WSB Radio. When she finished at Georgia State, she went to work in the WSB Accounting Department. When WSB-TV began their first broadcasts, she was made the first bookkeeper for WSB-TV. After marrying, she then stayed home with her children and started a catering business. After her oldest child started college, Mrs. Fant went back into the business world, working in inside sales. For over twenty years she was an avid bowler, achieving scores of over 200 and carrying a 142 average for many of those years. Mrs. Fant is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ford, her son, John Fant and her grandchildren Jennifer Ford, Caitlin and Ryan Morris and Colin and Harrison Fant. Mrs. Fant was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert McJunkin Fant and her daughter Rebecca Fant Morris. On Sunday,June 7, 2015 a visitation will begin at 2:00 pm with the service starting at 3:00pm at Chamblee First United Methodist Church in Chamblee with Interment at Shadowlawn Cemetery in Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Chamblee First UMC Music Fund will be appreciated.
