Mrs. Hazel Anne Fraser Sims of Johns Creek, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at H.M. Patterson and Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel at 11:00AM with Reverend Caroline Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA. Hazel was born on March 10, 1927 in Atlanta, GA to the late Samuel Alexander Fraser and Hazel McConaughy Fraser. She grew up on 5th Street and attended Girls High. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Queens College in Charlotte, NC. Hazel was a lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA. Hazel was employed by Dekalb County Schools, working at Dresden and Laurel Ridge Elementary Schools. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially spending time at the lake or on family vacations. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Claude William (Bill) Sims, Jr. and her sister Connie Riddle. Survivors include her sister, Millie Walling, her daughters and sons in law, Gayle and George Woodward of Duluth and Donna and Jim Wade of Cumming and son and daughter in law Keith and Martha Sims of Monroe; grandchildren, Gina and Greg Woodward, David and Kristen Sims, Eli and Madelin Bell and Morgan and Blake Wade. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 201 Washington Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.
