I moved away from Jonesboro about 15 years ago and lost touch with Eugene. I have thought of him so often over the years thinking about the funny stories he would tell about his childhood and such. Gene was a great story teller. Gene had a gentle sweet way about him. He was always willing to give me a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on. Tonight I was up thinking about him and wondering how he has been doing. Unfortunately I found out that he has passed on. I hope he knows how great a person I have always thought he was. RIP Gene I hope to see you in Heaven.

As the Talmadge mantle passes to a new generation. In the grief, hold your heads high. Yours is a great name with an honorable tradition of service and leadership. Our prayers go up for you all.

My sincere condolence to your family and may you find comfort during this difficult time....
Ps 94:18,19

May it bring comfort to the family knowing that others are thinking of them.

Herman, I am so sad to know that we have lost another true son of the south. May God's Grace surround you in the days ahead.

I have learned just today, a few hours before his funeral, that my closest childhood pal and lifelong friend, Gene, has passed away. As kids we were the terrors of Ansley Park, back when he lived in the Governor's Mansion, and remained
friends throughout all the years. I am stunned to learn of this. My profoundest sympathies to his family and friends over the loss of a great, kind and unique soul. There will never be another quite like him. Adios, amigo.

I have just learned today, a matter of hours before his funeral, that my best childhood pal and lifelong friend, Gene, has passed away. I am still stunned. As kids we were the terror of Ansley Park when he lived in the Governor's Mansion and remained kindred souls forever. My deepest sympathy to his family and all who knew this wonderful person. He will always be missed.

Gene Talmadge Jr. was one of a kind. He would do anything for you. I met Gene in the early 70's and have many great and funny memories over the years. Gene was always amusing to be around and to spend time. He was one of the most straight forward and to the point persons I have ever known. I am glad to have know Gene as a friend for all the years. Anyone who did not know Gene, missed out!!! He will always be remembered by all of his friends.

Our thoughts are with you. We're here if you need us. Love

It is with much sadness that I have learned of Gene's passing. I have known Gene for many, many years, but had lost contact with him, as well as a lot of my friends after moving away from Jonesboro some 15 years ago. Gene will always hold a special place in my heart. He was without a doubt the kindest and most generous man to all he knew. I will miss him sorely and keep the memories of him close to my heart forever. God bless his family and loved ones in their time of sorrow.
Rest in peace Gene.
Love always,
Libby Hanes

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

My prayers from the Lord family. Originally from Marietta, GA.

Your father, Gene, was a wonderful friend and a man who I came to know that possessed integrity, wit, honor and many funny stories. I treasure the many memories I have, and will always have, of him. I wish all of his family sincere condolences and wish they remember his legacy.
