
Inez Burgess Gordon, of Atlanta, passed away on August 11, 2010. She was born in Marietta, Georgia on July 29, 1918, and was the widow of William D. ("Bo") Gordon, a co-founder of Gordon Foods. She joined Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in 1956 and was active in the church and the Pioneer-Fidelis Class until her recent illness. She was a member of the Piedmont Hospital Women's Auxiliary where she served as a volunteer for over thirty years and was an honorary member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. Her friends and family will always remember her at Christmas for the English Toffee candy recipe that she and her husband created and gave as gifts each year. She began making the candy commercially in 1985, where it was sold through a food catalog and at Macy's in Atlanta. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette and her husband Dr. Allen James, Carol and her husband Earl Hardy, four grandchildren Cathy and Alan Crowley, Jan and Andy Cook, Shea Powell, Brandea and Keith Averett; a sister, Hazel Bartlett of Marietta, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 14 at 2 o'clock at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Interment Westview Cemetery.
