January 2, 1987 – October 9, 2020

Jacob Lee “Jake” Berryhill passed away unexpectedly at his home in Brookhaven, Georgia on Friday, the 9th of October, 2020.

His parents Jim and Elise Berryhill and sister Jennifer Berryhill Goebel welcomed Jake into their lives on January 2, 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia. Jake graduated from The Wesleyan School in Atlanta and attended Auburn University. Ever the sports fan, Jake played baseball and basketball in his youth, captained the Wesleyan Cross Country team for two years and always cheered the Auburn Tigers and Florida Gators.

Jake came to faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Jake endured difficulties in life, he fought back from scoliosis surgery as a teen and later from a car accident that required months of rehabilitation. Through hard work and gritty determination, Jake was able to enjoy demanding athletic hobbies and became an excellent marksman and golfer.

In 2011, Jake helped is father found DecisionLink Corporation and became an integral part of the business. He was the company’s first “Million Dollar Salesman”. His co-workers admired his drive, engaging manner, and attention to the needs of his clients and colleagues.

Jake’s family and friends remember his kindness, generous nature, sense of humor, and warm smile. He formed deep relationships throughout his life and stood up with several friends as their groomsman. Jake cherished the close relationship his family shared with each other and prized his role as “Uncle CaCa”.

Jake is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Louise and James Berryhill, Sr. of Tampa, Florida.

Jake is survived by his parents Elise and Jim Berryhill of Brookhaven, Georgia; maternal grandparents Ann and Al Stringfellow of Tampa, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Jenni and Paul Goebel, and nieces Ann Elise, Margaret, and Georgia Goebel of Dallas, Texas.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I've known Jake as a colleague and a friend for over 5 years. His passing at such an early and promising stage in life has shaken me to my core. I will miss him greatly.

I will never forget his ability to be great at anything he wanted and how his positive energy was felt immediately by anyone who met him.

I send my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his dad Jim and Jake's entire family.

While I’ve only known Jake in a work capacity for the past seven years. I couldn’t help but be impressed by his hard work ethic, his devotion to his family and friends, and dedication to the DecisionLink business.
We pray that Jim and Elise find strength in the memory that they raised such a dedicated, hard-working young man. He will most certainly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.
With deepest sympathy, Bob and Mary Caravella
