OBITUARY

James Harrison Willingham

April 11, 1991January 18, 2014

James Harrison Willingham, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, died on January 18, 2014. Born on April 11, 1991, he was the son of Allen Sherrod Cutts Willingham and Susan Shoulders Willingham. Harrison attended Christ the King School and Marist School in Atlanta where he was a National Merit Scholar and athlete. He graduated in May of 2013 from the University of Georgia Honors Program with a BBA in Economics from the Terry Business School and a minor in History. He treasured his many friendships from all facets of his life, from his youth through Marist to his brothers of the Sigma Chi fraternity at UGA. He was an outdoorsman, particularly fond of hunting and fishing in the woods and hills of McCormick Country, South Carolina. He relished the harsh rigors of working summers in commercial salmon fishing operations in Alaska, including one summer on Fire Island off the coast of Anchorage. He was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King. He was an avid reader, and a history and sports enthusiast. Harrison was known for his warm, easy smile, agile mind, quick wit, and imposing physical presence. He exhibited a gentle kindness and thoughtfulness and great loyalty to family and friends whose lives he brightened. He was much loved. Harrison is survived by his parents of Atlanta, his maternal grandmother Mary Elizabeth Shwab of Gainesville, GA, his sister, Kathryn Allen Cutts Willingham, currently pursuing a masters degree in English literature at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and his brother, Julian George Willingham, a freshman at Tulane University in New Orleans, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A wake will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the Willingham home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Rd., Atlanta, GA 30305. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Marist School. Checks may be made out to "Marist School" and mailed to 3790 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30319. Gifts may also be made online at www.marist.com/onlinegiving. Please write "In memory of Harrison Willingham '09" in the memo line or comments section of your gift.

-George, Kate, Mr. and Mrs. Willingham.

My heart broke as I just recently heard the news. Some of the fondest memories I had growing up were spent at your house being with your wonderful family.

George, I recently watched a movie called Stand by Me, and teared up a bit when I heard the line, "Nobody has friends like the ones they had when they were 12". Heck, i'm tearing up right now. You were my best friend growing up and ever since I moved from Atlanta to the Lake, I've always, and will always, miss the days that I spent growing up with you and your family.

Harrison was such a great guy and I used to always look up to him. You have such a great, wonderful family and it absolutely crushes me to hear about the loss of Harrison.

On behalf of myself and the Fenn Family, I would like to express our deepest condolences for Harrison.

I did not know Harrison, but I grew up with his family in Augusta as close family friends. There is not a better family anywhere. My mother told me tonight that he had died. I want to express my deepest sympathy to the entire family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Gordon Kelly, Jr., Toccoa, Ga.

Susan and Allen, I don't think there is any possible way to tell you how sorry we all are about Harry. Just know that we lift all of you up in our prayers each morning and night and we know that God will help you find peace. What I know for sure is that Harry is sitting with God and enjoying the everlasting life we all hope to one day. The hard part is for those of us that are left behind, and as a parent, I know that is incredibly difficult. May God keep you all now and forever! Judy, Art, Johnny and Bennett Ellis
