Janet Ann Turley, born January 30, 1936 in Troy, NY, passed peacefully in her sleep, January 7, 2020.

Janet was the daughter of Meribah Timmons Stafford and Ormond Stafford. She is survived by her brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Ann Stafford; daughter, Rowena Lynn Turley; grandson, James Turley and his wife, Jessica and their two children, Akina Rose Turley and Kai Robert Turley; and stepsons, Don and Terry Turley.

Janet was always a naturally beautiful woman. Early on she moved to Hollywood, CA and soon landed an exclusive contract with American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, perhaps because of her striking resemblance to Marilyn Monroe!

Janet was swept off of her feet by a young athlete, “Bullit” Bob Turley, who pitched for the New York Yankees. The marriage lasted for 17 years but ended in divorce. Some things are meant to be however, as they re-married in August 2009. Janet became a widow in 2013.

Janet was an amazing hostess. She loved entertaining and would plan her holiday menus months in advance. Anyone who was lucky enough to receive an invitation considered themselves lucky!

Janet also had a thriving career as a realtor, but retired after she and Bob re-married at his request that she could travel without restrictions.

Janet’s caring about people and family extended to her pets as well. At one time, she shared her love with Bob and six cats.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 11:00am at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. The family will receive friends one hour prior.

We are so incredibly sorry to hear of the passing of Janet Turley. We were just speaking about how incredible she was, and what a positive impact she had on our family. Sadly we lost touch after she retired from real estate, but we knew that she had remarried Bob from her annual birthday and anniversary cards to our family.
She was our realtor in 1997 when we were transferred from Toronto to Atlanta with Mizuno USA. Janet quickly became like family to us, welcoming us to Atlanta and treating us like her own adult children. At the time we only had one 6 month old daughter, but as our family grew, with another daughter and son, Janet continued to stay in our lives. She always came to our home at Christmas, gifting wonderful Christmas bags filled full of incredible things for our 3 children. She also always brought us Easter Lilies and Easter baskets year after year. God certainly knew what He was doing by placing Janet in our lives! She felt like a parent to us when our actual parents were 1000 miles away. We have such a fond memory of her. She made such an impact on our family, and we will forever be thankful for what she did to welcome us to the USA. She was humble, so very generous, and incredibly kind.
We still live in the same house that she sold to us 22 years ago. She knew that it would suit our family perfectly, and it certainly has. We have built friendships with our neighbors like they are family to us. Our children are now 22, 20 & 18; how time flies! Please know how special Janet was and will always be to our family.
