

Born in Suffolk, Virginia on September 20, 1922, her family moved to Ansley Park in Atlanta in 1924 where she attended Girl’s High and received her degree from Agnes Scott College in June 1944. She then enlisted as a private in the Women’s Army Corps in 1944 where she was trained as a physical therapist and a lab technician and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Physical Therapy Corps. After World War II she received a Masters Degree in Biochemistry from Emory University. She was then asked to open a laboratory for the newly established Centers for Disease Control located at Lawson General Hospital in Chamblee, Ga. She married Dr Harrison L Rogers, Jr in August 1949 and, after living in Connecticut and Massachusetts during his residency, they returned to Atlanta to raise their children. They attended First Presbyterian Church where she worked in the Meals on Wheels program since 1986. She is survived by her children, Harrison and Susan Rogers, Theodosia and Billy Wade, Ellen and Bruce Hamilton, Michael and Vickie Rogers, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family requests that donations be sent to the Presbyterian Homes of Georgia, 3675 Crestwood Parkway, Suite 370, Duluth, GA 30096, in lieu of flowers. Graveside service will be held Wednesday November 28 at 11 o’clock at Westview Cemetery; a memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 o’clock at The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, a reception will follow at the church.
