Jeanette Wittenborn Clarida, 86, of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 05, 2026. Jeanette was born and raised in Chester, Illinois, and attended Southern Illinois University after high school. After living in New Orleans, Chicago, and Indianapolis, Jeanette raised her three children in Sandy Springs, GA, and Chester, Illinois.
Professionally, Jeanette served her community for nearly 40 years as a dental hygienist, with stints at private practices, Naval Air Station Atlanta, and the DeKalb County (Georgia) Board of Health. She taught aspiring dental hygiene students for three years.
Throughout Jeanette’s life, she always found ways to help others, whether teaching swimming lessons as a teenager, actively participating in service sororities in her adult years, and volunteering at her church, St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church. She gave freely and opened her door even when her means were limited. Her generosity was instinctive and unwavering.
As much as Jeanette enjoyed reading, often reading multiple books at the same time, she enjoyed spending most of her time with her friends and family. Until her passing, Jeanette still had a large, active group of friends from her grammar school days, including an annual trip to the beach. Jeanette was so proud of her three children and the lives they built, and she could not have been happier when her grandchild, Ryder, was born. They had a special bond; in Jeanette’s final days, Ryder’s visits brightened her day.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Kent and Ruby Wittenborn, and is survived by her brother, Bob Wittenborn (Marylou); sister, Carol King; daughter, Caren Clarida Monetta (Steve); sons, Troy William Clarida (Bonnie) and John Bradley Clarida (Tia); and grandchild, John Ryder Clarida.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jeanette’s memory may consider a gift to the St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or the Arthritis Foundation. A memorial service followed by a reception will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church, 3110 Ashford Dunwoody Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319.
