Jeff Frantz, age 55, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at his home in Brookhaven GA. He is survived by his wife Melissa Frantz (Williams); his children Scotty and Cole; his brother, Tim Frantz; and his parents.
Jeff was born in Pittsburgh on May 27, 1963 to William and Marilyn Frantz. He graduated from Upper St. Clair High School before going on to Purdue University to earn a degree in Industrial Management in 1986. On April 4, 1992 he married Melissa in Atlanta. On March 20, 1997 Scotty was born and on January 26, 1999 Cole arrived. After a successful 11-year career in the chemical industry with Dow Chemical, Jeff switched careers and joined JLL where he excelled as a Managing Director – Agency Leasing in commercial real estate. In 2014, JLL presented him with the distinguished Champion of Excellence award. Jeff was a true Champion of Excellence – an energetic collaborator, a masterful problem-solver, a selfless leader, and a beacon of positivity.
Jeff loved life and he loved people. He was a true friend to all that knew him, and his smile, enthusiasm and positive energy lit up a room. Jeff was a devoted husband and father who was extremely proud of his talented boys and he traveled all over the country with them as they played competitive soccer. He was an avid sports fan keeping ties to his Pittsburgh teams and to the Purdue Boilermakers. More recently he added Atlanta United to his fandom list, but he was most passionate about Marist soccer, where both boys played and the College of Charleston soccer, where Scotty currently plays.
Faith played a pivotal role in Jeff’s life. He started a Christian small group and had many men in his life who shared his faith. He never wavered in his faith and remained an optimist throughout his nine-year fight with stage four colon cancer. He inspired hundreds of people including fellow patients he would meet through the course of his treatments. In 2011, he delivered a moving speech at the Atlanta Real Estate Prayer Breakfast where he proclaimed that faith, not fear, was in charge. Jeff was a light in this world and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
