

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Mason Hux on Wednesday, Sept. 22nd. Jerry was a part of the Atlanta community since 1984 when he purchased Beverly Hall Furniture Galleries from its founders. He served as president of Beverly Hall for 26 years, taking the company from a small, locally recognized business to a nationally respected, high end furniture, and interior design chain.
Jerry's involvement in the community extended well beyond his business ventures. He was a member of the Buckhead Coalition and served as the president of both the Rotary Club of Buckhead and the Georgia Home Furnishings Association, Advisory Board of Baker Furniture, Advisory Board of Shepherd Center, member of Cherokee Town and Country Club and Lake Burton Club. Jerry was also a supporter of many local charities including the Shepherd Center, Camp Twin Lakes, Boy Scouts of America, Chemoflage, and Zoo Atlanta.
Born in Raleigh, NC, to Bernard and Stella Hux, in 1946. Jerry was a graduate of Cary High School where he earned his Eagle Scout Badge. He attended NC State University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Furniture Manufacturing Management.
After 8 years of service to Ethan Allen Furniture, he returned to North Carolina, and joined Hickory Chair where he held two executive positions prior to purchasing Beverly Hall in 1984.
Jerry was a loyal and devoted friend and he leaves behind countless friends he made during his 40 years in the furniture industry. He enjoyed and played golf and until recently tennis as well as being an avid Braves fan and season ticket holder since1985.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Anne, mother Stella Hux of Raleigh, NC, his brother Charles Hux of Topsail, NC, son Mason Hux and wife Amy, daughter Emily and husband Corey Leiske, all of Atlanta, son Spencer Hux and wife Brooke, of Charleston, SC, and his three precious grandchildren, Avery and Ben Leiske, and Violet Hux, sisters-in-law Nancy Little, Martha Schronce (Larry), Becky Littlejohn, brothers-in-law Mike Henline (Connie), Carl Henline, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be Friday, 6-8 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Funeral home and a memorial service Saturday, at 1pm September 25 at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Flowers are welcomed and memorials may be made to Shepherd Center, 2020 Peachtree Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA. 30309
