Joan was born on June 9, 1937, in Aiken, South Carolina, to the late Carlisle and Jane Livingston. She graduated from Hillcrest High School, then received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Winthrop College. On July 24, 1965, she married Ronald G. St. Romain from New Orleans, Louisiana. They had three children, Lisa, Laurie, and Bryan.
Joan was known for her infectious laugh, her gift for gab, and her spirit of low-risk adventure. Her perfect evening was sharing a meal, laughter, and conversation with the people she loved. She spent hours listening to her granddaughter Roan sing and perform. Roan made her laugh and brought her endless joy. Often, she could be found searching for antiques and unusual items. Sher was also a devoted member of the Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlisle and Jane, her husband Ronald G. St. Romain, her daughter, Laurie St. Romain, her sister Sue L. Bellman, and her brother Bobby Livingston.
Joan is survived by her children, Lisa St. Romain and Bryan St. Romain, and her granddaughter Roan; her brother Carl Livingston Jr., and her sister Sally L. Updyke.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brigid's Catholic Church in Johns Creek, Georgia. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either The Saint Vincent de Paul Society or The American Cancer Institute.
