JoAnn requested an intimate graveside ceremony being held at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs on April 3, 2020. Chaplin Matthew Alexander will officiate.
JoAnn was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on May 21, 1932, the daughter of the late Herman and Ruth Wyatt. JoAnn was a long-time resident of Atlanta and retired from Bellsouth as a Network Analysis Clerk after 43 years of service. JoAnn was also involved in the Silver Lake Garden Club where she served on the Board for many years.
JoAnn was known for her feisty, yet light-hearted sense of humor. She was a remarkable mother and grandmother, exceptional cook, and impressive gardener. JoAnn loved her family with all her heart and the thing she cherished most was spending time with them. She took pride and pleasure in preparing meals for her family and always ensured there was an open seat for extended family and friends, especially over the holidays.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Benjamin F. Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Norma Wyatt Dean. She is survived by her three daughters; Neacha Waldron (Gary), Candace Jordan (Scott), and Malisa Dixon; seven grandchildren, Ali, Josh, Christopher, Zachary, and Jeremy Waldron, and Christina and Kayla Jordan; her sister, Linda Wyatt Davidson of Elkton, KY; and her sweet Bichon, Rascal.
The family wishes to extend special heartfelt thanks to all of those who have helped care for her and have been part of her life during this trying illness. God bless you all!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of JoAnn to Atlanta Botanical Gardens or Wellstar Tranquility Hospice.
